Silvertung Overview:

When Silvertung released their last single, “Never Too Late,” it spawned their first Billboard Top 40 Mainstream Rock Chart hit! Coming off this success, the band continued to tour in support of the track including performing on the main stage at several festivals such as the Carolina Craft Beer & Music Fest (NC), Shiley Acres (WV) the Shindig Festival 2015 (MD).

"Face The Music” is the first single from the band’s forth-coming release, entitled, ‘Out of the Box,’ set for release on February 26. Lead vocalist Speed said, “The title came from something our manager kept telling us – ‘to think out of the box.’ We’ve been experimenting with new ideas during our writing process. For the first time we walked away from the studio after recording the first two tracks, feeling like we really gave it all we have.”

In January, the annual Maryland Music Awards announced nominees for their yearly music awards program. Silvertung has been nominated in the categories of “Breakout Artist” and “Best Heavy Metal”, with the band scheduled to perform their current radio chart hit, “Face The Music” at the televised event.

Silvertung’s Origins:

The Mid-Atlantic rock quartet is comprised of vocalist Speed, lead guitarist Codey, bassist Skoot, and drummer Danno. The band have created a tremendous regional buzz on the strength of their live show, which has seen them share the stage with countless national acts, including Godsmack, Disturbed, Shinedown, Slipknot, Staind, Papa Roach, Buckcherry, Filter, Drowning Pool, and P.O.D., among others.

Originally formed by Speed, the band had a few false starts. According to Speed, “Initially when I started the band, there were different players and it got to the point where I was all but drained. Then I met Skoot and he listened to some of the demo tracks I had and said, 'These songs are great. I want to help.' Not long after that, we met our drummer, Danno and began writing new songs. We started performing local shows with nationals with a few short tours on the East Coast. We’ve had a couple of different guitarists that didn’t work, until we met Codey through one of our social sites. When Codey came in to audition, we knew before we finish the first song that he was our guy. He performed the songs with us like he had been in the band for years."

Finding Success is “Never Too Late”:

Grammy Nominated producer/enginner, David Ivory (Ivory Productions) got wind of the band and invited Silvertung to a session at his secluded Dylanava Studios in Gwynedd Valley, PA. Ivory has worked with some of music’s biggest names – touching upon a variety of genres in the process. Two of Ivory’s artists (Halestorm/Atlantic Records, Silvertide/J Records/Sony) have been signed to major record deals in recent years, but his passion always remains the same – the overall development of his artists and their music. Focusing on songwriting, arrangement, and live performance, along with record making process, Ivory inspires passion in his artists and provides them with the full package for success. David’s unorthodox style, waving his arms and shouting, brings out the best in his artists – and it worked for Silvertung! The collaboration spawned the band’s first radio break-through hit “Never Too Late” hitting the Billboard Top 40 Mainstream Rock Chart hit! The video has been streamed over 60,000 times on YouTube.

Thinking “Out Of The Box”:

‘Out of the Box’ was produced by Steven Wright (who has worked with everyone from Slipknot to Avril Lavigne). “We wanted to pull out all the stops on the new material,” said Codey. “We’re writing songs that will keep the listeners on their feet…you could say the new stuff is ADHD…like me!”

Growth is evident in the new tracks stemming directly from the band’s constant willingness to challenge themselves and push at the edge of songwriting. “I feel like the four of us set goals – which may seem unachievable – but we figure out a way how to reach those targets and surpass it,” says bass player Skoot. “We always raise the bar and try to one up ourselves. We wanted the new stuff to be more exciting with melodies and a groove. ‘Out Of The Box’ is a big accomplishment for ourselves.”

Drummer Danno commented, “I love the aggressive presentation of the new tracks and yet they retain some melodic elements. I feel our overall performance went to another level too. The first track, “Face The Music” is an anthemic song that sticks to the point – it’s in your face with a heavy rhythm section.”

And the reviews have been stellar, as evidenced by this quote from Russ Mottla, syndicated Radio Host of Scorch, Mikey & Russ of www.RockAllNight.com “Loved the video, loved the song! Great pop song wrapped up in a bad ass rock band – secret to success!”

‘Out of the Box’ is set for release on February 26th. You can expect the band to support it with a tour proving they can deliver the goods on the concert stage. “We’d love to start in the Mid-West,” said Codey. “We keep hearing that people want us to play in that area. “We love to catch a tour with another band, but if not, we’ll go out ourselves. Our goal is get on that stage and kill every night. We’re excited and can’t wait to start the tour.”
